This is the Declaration on which the Council of Truth was founded. Since the founding, many changes have occured in the daily practices of the Council, in large dictated by the nature of Norrath as enforced by the Vision™ of the Gods as well as your increasing power. This Charter remains intact as originally conceived. The daily conduct and changes to our mission are set forth in the Rules & Regulations above.
Declaration of Principles
We the independent and free-willed citizens of Norrath, do hereby declare, of our own accord, the following:
The gods have created us all differently - yet have given us all the power to understand what is right and what is wrong. It is what we do with this knowledge that sets us apart from the lesser beings of Norrath, and it is the responsibility of the individual to realize this. Failure to do so results in a lackluster view of life - one filled with envy, jealousy, and chaos. The people of the world who know what is right must come forward, and make claim to these young lands.
Evil has poisoned the soil of purity long enough. Now is the time for all those who seek salvation to follow the path of the Light, and undertake the most difficult (and rewarding) of tasks.
The Dark Elves, with elaborate and meticulous planning, have managed to increase their numbers many fold. Bertoxxulous and his minions have scattered throughout our humble world, inflicting pain and suffering upon those weaker than them. Innothule has darkened the once beautiful forests of Neriak, weaving his vicious web of deceit, lies, and trickery. Cazic-thule, Lord of Fear spreads malice by inspiring fear in his servants, subjugating them that they may bend Norrath to his every destructive desire. That which the populous of Norrath once held dear is now in danger - from the hands of Darkness itself. If a Code and Order is not es lished, the candle of Righteousness will burn out. All will be lost, for all will be consumed in the eternal blanket of Darkness.
It is the right and duty of the people to band together, to thwart such a dismal end to our world. Norrath must prosper, its lands must survive, its beasts must live on, and its people must thrive.
On this, the Eighth Day of June in the Year 3179, is es lished
The Council of Truth
We lay here the foundation of a Beacon of Hope. Our goals are simply stated, yet difficult of accomplishment. Many will be the trials and vicissitudes that befall the members of our Council, but in the end, those strands of Darkness will be Lighted, as our Candles grow in number. The flickering Light will blaze into a conflagration of Purity, and the Darkness shall retreat into the four corners of Norrath, never to tempt the world again.
We are a noble people, strong, humble, and honorable. The ancient code of Chivalry runs strong through our blood; brethren united for one common purpose:
The protection of Norrath from the Dark Races, and those that follow the path of the Dark Gods.
We shall purge this world of all evil, though many good souls may perish in the charge. Our names will live on for eternity, carved into the Stone of Martyrdom, forever known to be the brave souls who would sacrifice themselves lives of the innocent, and for the protection of the sacred Light.
The Council of Truth is devoted to the betterment of all Norrath, to the protection of all life untainted by darkness - those who follow the way of Light. Sacred Clerics, Holy Paladins, Wise Druids, Humble Monks, and Goodhearted Rangers are all welcome to join our ranks. Those of the Magi who walk the path of Light are invited as well, and even those Herbalistic Shaman who wish to cleanse Norrath are greeted with Brotherhood. Rogues who make use of their special skills in the service of Light are also welcome among us. Our ranks will swell with Warriors of the Right and Good. Any Darkened races, including Dark Elves, Trolls, and Ogres are cut off from our hearts, as they are the very personification of all the Council is united against. The Knights of the Shadow, and the Death-wielding Necromancers are also forbidden to our ranks, be they Troll, Gnome, Erudite or Human. Such stained beings worship that which seek to destroy.
We must be ever vigilant. Our course will lead us down a long, deadly road for which we must be in a constant state of preparedness.
Thus said, the Council of Truth will be known to be hosting several bazarres and fairs, useful for our members to trade, buy or sell their wares with those other persons in Norrath, to help arm those who would aid us in our fight.
Celebrations will be called when we reach milestones in our quest (such as the death of Emperor Crush and his confidant, Ambassador D'Vinn). The Dwarven clerics of Kaladim would be asked to supply a good amount of ale, and the High-elven Royalty to donate some fine Elvish Wine for a Bacchanal never to be forgotten upon our world. Such cases will be more frequent as we approach our goal, and gods help us, we shall.
May the Light of the Arrow pierce the Heart of Darkness, and may it guide the lost soul in the direction of Righteousness.
Let the Council of Truth guide you upon our lightened road. The path is fraught with twists and turns; join us, and as one we shall never lose our way.
